Is a tapping saddle on Sch 10 pipe structurally sufficient?
I'm running into some dead ends with this work question, I want to make sure that a 1" hole cut into a sch-10, 12" diameter pipe is not going to be a problem. The pipe is carrying water at around 75 psi.
A one inch connection into a 12 diameter pipe operating at 75 psi should not pose a problem if you use a saddle. I have seen similar connections made by stubbing a 1 schedule 80 pipe directly into the line with no problem. A saddle would be even stronger.
I have also seen such connections made using a weldolet or sockolet.
