Four Great Gift Ideas For The Expectant Mother
If you know someone who is expecting a baby, here are some great ideas to give the expectant mom for her upcoming baby shower. You can team up with a friend to purchase one of the larger gifts or stick with something a little less expensive.
If you know the new mom will be breastfeeding, a breast pump is an excellent gift. If she plans to go back to work soon after the baby is born, she will need a pump in order to continue breastfeeding. Even if she is not planning on returning to work, a breast pump can help relieve pressure when there is too much milk in the breasts. Pumping the breasts can also help increase milk production so that there is always enough for the baby.
If you want to get the best breast pump for your friend, you should choose a double electric breast pump. Electric pumps are usually faster and have more suction than battery-operated or manual pumps. Also, if manual pumps are used often they can cause soreness in the hands and wrists.
For the non-breastfeeding mother, how about a gift basket filled with products to help her pamper herself? After months of not feeling very pretty, products such as scented shower gel, skin care cream and scented oil are sure to be welcome. You could also put together a manicure and pedicure kit with all of the essential tools and a nice selection of polishes.
If you want to get something for the baby instead of the mother, a bath set for the baby is a nice gift. You can fill the baby bath tub with baby oil, baby shampoo, baby powder and other necessities. This will be a very useful gift that won't cost much to buy.
For something a little more memorable, a diaper cake is a great choice. If you have never seen a diaper cake, picture a wedding cake made by rolling diapers together to form the layers. Once you have each layer completed, secure it with a rubber band and tie a ribbon around each layer. Use a baby item to top it off and you've got a beautiful and practical baby gift.
These gifts are sure to please the expectant mother. Whether you choose a new breast pump to help her breastfeed successfully or a basket of goodies to pamper her, or go with a gift for the baby, your friend will be thrilled that you thought of her and were there to support her and help her celebrate the birth of her new baby.
Im using manual breast milk pump and some times i use my own hand to pump milk to the bottle for feeding to my?
new born baby. coz my nipples are very sore. so pls tell me does this lead to enlarge my breast? If so what should i do?
First, someone else suggested putting cabbage in your bra. Do NOT do this. Cabbage leaves are a folk remedy for drying up your milk, NOT healing sore nipples.
Soreness usually means that baby isn't latching correctly. And if you are giving her bottles, you aren't giving her a chance to learn to latch correctly. While it's possible to exclusively pump for many months or years, if you choose to do this you will need a top quality electric pump, not a manual pump and/or hand-expression.
If you want to breastfeed, breastfeed. Throw the pump away, put baby to the breast, and work with her calmly and patiently to teach her to nurse. (Professional help from a lactation consultant will be of great help here.)
If you have chosen to exclusively pump, buy a top-grade pump and expect to pump every 2-3 hours around the clock.
Most nursing mothers have larger than typical breasts -- the milk glands are doing their job.
