Discover Past Mills In Branson Missouri Including Edwards Mill
If you'd like to get out and explore the Branson area a little, journey to Edwards Mill at Point Lookout, a working model of a turn of the century gristmill.
Besides the high number of entertainment venues, shopping centers & plazas in addition to theme parks, Branson Missouri is also full of early American history. The State of the Ozarks is a conservation society inside Missouri that has been refurbished & built numerous old mills throughout the Ozarks. One mill in particular, the Edwards Mill, at Point Lookout, is closeby to Branson, Missouri. The Edwards Mill is a reproduction of a turn-of-the-century gristmill, a structure used to grind flour. It was built in the exact manner as mills of the past & crafted from lumber harvested from older, weakening mills.
The mill, that is currently an educational center ran by students from the College of the Ozarks, is open to the public. When tourists saunter throughout the building, they'll discover the old ways of life for all those in the early 1900s. The students who work within the mill construct & create rugs, shawls, placemats along with other woven gift items created from looms in the mill. They also grind meal as well as flour to sell. The basement encompasses a formidable compilation of vintage milling tools, including roller mills, grinders, presses as well as drills.
