Clogged Norwalk Plumbing Solutions

Cleaning out your clogged plumbing can be a messy, smelly and totally unpleasant experience for the average homeowner, so many will call a plumber, who gets paid to deal with these obstructions. But what if there was a way you could clear your own plumbing without having to spend the money on a plumber? Wouldn't you do it? There are many simple methods you can use that can save you the time and money on hiring a professional, and many of these methods won't get you too dirty either!

First of all, you need to prevent clogs from happening if at all possible. Keep watching for slow or sluggish draining of your sinks, tubs and toilets. It is a lot easier to clear a partially clogged drain or pipe that fully blocked pipe. If your drain is only partially clogged, try pouring 1/4 cup of baking soda followed by 1/2 cup of vinegar down the drain. Baking soda and vinegar create a fizzing which loosens up whatever is clogging the drain.

After about 30 minutes, pour some hot water down the drain to clean the soda and vinegar out. Following this with hot water will clean any gunk that is left in the pipe. Take some preventative measures to keep your drains as clean as possible. This may mean dumping hot water down your drains at least once a month.

If the first method does not work for you and the problem is a clogged sink or toilet, it is okay to grab a plunger. Most people will do this first anyways. The key to making the plunger work at its optimum level is by keeping the plunger under about 2" of water before you start plunging. If you need to, add more water to the sink or toilet. This will give you the best seal between the plunger and the sink or toilet drain and adds to how much suction power the plunger will get.

Let's say you've tried both above methods and the drain still isn't clearing out.

The next step to try would be using a plumbing snake. The flexibility of the plumbing snake allows it to be pushed easily down your pipes, through the clog for easier removal. This makes the plumbing snake one of the most reliable forms of clearing out your clogged plumbing. Plumbing snakes can be used for toilets, sinks, and sewer lines to clear any clogged pipes you may have. Once you have loosened up the clog, you can then run hot water through the pipe to clear out any remaining debris.

If, after you've tried everything listed above, you still have a problem with clogged plumbing, you will have to call a plumber. Make sure you don't just call the first plumber listed in the phone book. Choose a plumber that has experience and knowledge for the best results. Remember, the cheapest is not always the best. Experience matters most!

We are renting a duplex and our toilet over flowed yesterday due to clogged up pipes underneathe apartment and?

Know the carpet smells is it our responsibility our landlords to clean???Help
No all my neighbors toilets were flooded to not just our!!!

OK, i selected NZ questions only, so here's hoping your in NZ otherwise this probably wouldn't mean a thing!

Firstly, carpet is a permanent fixture in a house, if it's damaged it comes under your landlords house insurance. The landlord can request you to pay for the excess though.

You should have contents insurance, and let the insurance company know you are renting, therefore you would have received "legal liability" cover usually with no excess, which would mean all you would have had to do is put a claim in with your insurance company. Your insurance company and the landlord's would then sort out cleaning or replacement.

Good luck!
